The price customers book is the price they pay, the airline says, as it puts summer 2028 holidays on sale earlier than ever.

Holidaymakers flying from Birmingham with Jet2 have been promised that the price they book is the price they will pay, after the airline extended its "No Fuel Surcharges" guarantee to every flight and holiday it has on sale, all the way to summer 2028.

The airline, which flies from Birmingham Airport, has repeated its pledge that customers will not be asked to pay a fuel surcharge after booking. The guarantee now covers summer 2027, winter 2027/28 and summer 2028.

Why it matters now

The reassurance comes at a time when fuel costs are a worry for travellers and airlines alike. Inflation rose to 3.5 per cent in September, driven by a surge in fuel costs.

Jet2 says it was the first UK airline and tour operator to make the commitment, earlier this year, when it removed the surcharge provision from all its flights and holidays, even though it had never actually applied one.

The guarantee applies however people book: online, through the app, by phone or through an independent travel agent.

"The price customers book is the price they will pay"

David Hills, chief customer officer at Jet2, said: "Customers work and save hard for their holidays, so they deserve certainty from the moment they book."

"As they plan their getaways this winter and beyond, we are reaffirming our No Fuel Surcharges guarantee and making it clear that the price customers book with Jet2 is the price they will pay, with no fuel surcharge added later."

He said the reassurance "applies to all customers booking with Jet2, whatever time of year they choose to travel".

Summer 2028 already on sale

The announcement came as Jet2 put its summer 2028 programme on sale, earlier than ever, in response to demand from holidaymakers who like to book well ahead. The company, the UK's largest tour operator and third largest airline, is the first to launch 2028 getaways, with flights and holidays to 64 beach and city destinations from all 14 of its UK bases.

Millions of people are now planning winter sun, city breaks, Christmas market trips and ski holidays. At Birmingham Airport, Ryanair said earlier this month that it would base a ninth aircraft there this winter, adding new routes to Copenhagen, Rome Fiumicino, Warsaw Modlin, Marrakesh and Tirana.

Know what you are agreeing to

For anyone booking, it is worth reading the terms on surcharges before handing over a deposit. A guarantee like Jet2's removes one of the uncertainties of booking far in advance, especially for families who want to lock in a price for next year's school holidays.
