Everlast returns to Birmingham with city centre gym and HYROX centre
The 25,000 sq ft gym on Corporation Street is set to open before the end of the year.
Everlast Gyms is returning to Birmingham with a new 25,000 sq ft fitness centre on Corporation Street, which will include the city centre's official HYROX performance centre, set to open before the end of the year.
The gym will be at 16 to 28 Corporation Street, a short walk from New Street station, in a unit that was previously an easyGym.
What it will offer
Facilities will include a resistance area, free weights, cardio equipment, personal training, a reformer Pilates studio, a Myprotein kitchen, and InBody body scanning.
The site will also be an official HYROX performance centre, offering what the company describes as "exact race day conditions", with dedicated kit, turf and a purpose-built layout. HYROX-certified coaches will be on site, and there will be group training classes.
A return to the city
Everlast, owned by Frasers Group, closed its last remaining Birmingham gym, in Kings Heath, last year after the branch was judged not viable for further investment. Its Northfield gym shut in 2023, with the company citing maintenance costs.
The new centre marks its return to the city, this time in the heart of the city centre. Everlast runs around 60 gyms across the UK.
A Frasers Group spokesperson said: "We are pleased to announce the opening of a new 25,000 sq.ft Everlast Gyms on Corporation Street in Birmingham.
"Set to open later this year, Everlast Gyms Birmingham will offer the local community a next-generation fitness facility complete with an official HYROX Performance Center, a state-of-the-art reformer Pilates studio, a Myprotein kitchen, and more designed to offer members a best-in-class fitness experience."
Opening hours and joining
The gym will open from 6am to 10pm on weekdays, 8am to 7pm on Saturdays and 8am to 6pm on Sundays. An exact opening date and membership prices have not yet been confirmed, but people can register for early access on the Everlast website.
The company says those who register now will get exclusive early access to VIP memberships before the gym opens.
Fitness racing on the rise
HYROX, a fitness race that combines running with functional exercises such as sled pushes, rowing and wall balls, has grown rapidly in recent years, with large events held at venues including Birmingham's NEC. Having a dedicated place to train for it in the city centre is likely to appeal to the growing number of people taking part.
For city centre workers and residents, it will also be another option for staying active, close to the shops, offices and transport links of Corporation Street.
